Coron Trip: Darayonan Lodge

My husband and I just returned from a 4 days trip in Coron, Palawan. There are probably not enough superlatives to express how much we enjoyed every aspect of the journey and I must say that it was the holiday of a lifetime, so let me share with you our first adventure this year. Actually, this trip was scheduled last November 2012, but due on our limited budget; we re-booked it without any penalties.

I arranged our itinerary few weeks before our trip, I send inquiries to some lodge/inn at Coron and happy to say that I got 6 proposals from them. Hubby and I compared the quotations and decided to get the cheaper package which Darayonan Lodge offers.

Ms. Marilyn guided me through the possible tours and packages I can avail for our trip. She is very accommodating and easy to talk with. She provides me 4 choices for tour packages and after discussing it to my husband, we decided to get the “Super Sulit Coron Package CX22” which includes accommodation for 4days/3 nights at standard room, breakfast, lunch and pm snacks, Airport transfer, one walking tour, 2 days island hopping and unlimited drink, coffee and tea.

Hubby wants to upgrade our room from standard to deluxe, so we just add Php 900.00 for 4 days/3 nights. Their package rates are affordable for those who have a limited budget. Darayonan is quite popular to the locals, maybe because it was called “A Place Like Home”.

The lodge is situated in a residential part of Coron town, strategically located along the National Highway. A 30-45 minutes away from the airport. Darayonan Lodge aims to provide its guests with clean and comfortable rooms, good food and quality service. Aside from that, one has options on choosing the rooms to stay at: in the native bamboo, sawali and banig set-up (standard rooms) or in the modern concrete and tile two-story building. (superior or deluxe room).

Upon arrival to Darayonan, their friendly staffs assist us. Since our room is not yet available, they told us to stay at Superior room for a while until our room is unoccupied. Wow! Thank you. By 2:30pm, I asked if we can now transfer to our assigned room and finally we were transfer to the deluxe room. I was surprised to see how big our rooms were. There were one double bed and two single beds in each room where we put most of our stuffs. Wow! The mattress cover were spotless clean. The rooms were your basic accommodation but we had a good view of the pool. Yipee!

I love their comfort room; it has hot and cold shower, centralized water system plus the basic toiletries such as soap, shampoo and conditioner.

They also provide mini ref, 21” colored television (cable), mini bar, closet and writing desk. Wow! It’s like you never left home at all. I can say that we've had a comfortable stay at this lodge.

The place is clean all the time! You can request if you want to clean your room. They also make sure that the entire lodge is tidy all throughout the day. I have never seen any litter at all in my entire stay, promise!

Darayonan Lodge has facilities and amenities like Cafe which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner (Raphaella’s Dining, Raphaella’s Pavillion, Wit’s Watering Hole, and Kong’s Café), 24-hour Wi-Fi at lobby and a swimming pool.

What is striking about this place aside from its homey atmosphere is the owner’s love for the arts. Look at the dining area where you can find the owner’s antique collections of mascaras and mascara dolls, I believe that this is definitely a reflection of the owner.

Darayonan Lodge may not be for backpackers but it surely is a good value for your money. Promise! ^__^
